The Ridgeview Christian Center Senior group enjoys regular lunch outings after church, and we try to have an all attend gathering at least once a month. Our Seniors group encompasses ages 55+. Upcoming events are posted quarterly in a newsletter and mailed. For our most recent newsletter: RCC 2nd Quarter 2016 Newsletter.
Some members of our group are involved in differing areas of ministry both within and outside our church including but not limited to:
Shoes and Socks Ministry: This is a program started in our church that provides new shoes and socks to local elementary school students who would otherwise not have them. The local schools are aware of student’s needs and notify us when they have children who need a voucher to shop for shoes.
Children’s Ministries: Several of our members teach children’s Sunday School classes and volunteer as child care attendants.
Union Gospel Mission: The Union Gospel Mission (UGM) has been meeting the needs of the poor and homeless for over 60 years – providing more than 6.5 million meals and 1.5 million nights of shelter. For more information, click here.
Anna Ogden Hall: Women’s Recovery provides a safe, welcoming refuge and long-term treatment for women of all ages who are seeking to turn their lives in a new direction. They are introduced to a God who loves them and desires to redeem the brokenness of their lives. The program, which includes individual and group counseling, classes, vocational training, and addiction recovery, lasts approximately 18 months. Women with children can rest assured that their children will find a welcoming home, as well. For more information, click here.
Prayer: Weekly prayer warrior sessions.
Operation Christmas Child: In November the Seniors group heads up our local Operation Christmas Child program, In partnership with Samaritan’s Purse. The mission of Operation Christmas Child is to demonstrate God’s love in a tangible way to needy children around the world, and together with the local church worldwide, to share the Good News of Jesus Christ. The Seniors Group also does home visits for shut-ins, and provides meals to members of our church when a life event occurs that precludes the member or family from tending to this basic need.
